Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies requires a Senior Recruitment Officer at our head office in Midrand. You will be required to ensure that our company attract, hire and retain the best, qualified employees, while growing a strong talent pipeline, to address current and future needs, while complying with statutory and good personnel practice principles. Work closely with cross-functional teams to manage sourcing, interviewing and employment processes, demonstrate experience in screening, interviewing and assessing candidates, have current knowledge of relevant labour legislation and be a team leader who is able to make effective decisions quickly and is capable of managing a small team.


Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • National Diploma and/or degree in HRM or Industrial Psychology or similar
  • 5 years of recruitment experience (Agency/In-House)

Advantageous:

  • APSO/SABPP accreditation
  • Recruitment experience in the Pharmaceutical/Retail/FMCG sector
  • Experience in leading a small team

Job Specification:

  • Collaborate with assigned department managers on a regular basis and proactively identify and forecast future hiring needs in line with business and departmental strategy.
  • Ensure planning for bulk as well as individual projects.
  • Conduct research in order to gain a better understanding of each vacancy’s requirements.
  • Determine applicant requirements for example specific skills, competencies and experience.
  • Facilitate the process of compiling job descriptions and/or adverts in conjunction with the OE Department.
  • Design and implement talent acquisition pipeline tools in conjunction with the Department Manager
  • Attract candidates using various sources like social media networks, employee referrals and other creative methods, including Headhunting when required.
  • Implement new sourcing methods (e.g. social recruiting etc).
  • Participate in job fairs and career events as required.
  • Research and choose job advertising options.
  • Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools/methods to filter candidates.
  • Assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes.
  • Conduct reference checks on successful applicants before extending offer letters.
  • Advise hiring managers on recruitment best practice, company policy, interviewing techniques and strategies aligned with overall department goal.
  • Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices.
  • Supervise the allocated micro-team, managing and reporting on its performance to the Department Manager.
  • Ensure day to day management and assignment of tasks etc. in order to achieve department and company goals.
  • Keep track of recruiting metrics (e.g. time-to-fill and cost-per-hire) as requested.
  • Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the Recruitment Manager.
  • Manage and report back in terms of team statistics as per departmental performance requirements.
  • Build and maintain a database of potential candidates by utilising online talent pools.
  • Manage and respond to recruitment related correspondence, queries as well as applications received through various channels.
  • Maintain the online recruitment portal by ensuring that adverts are refreshed on a regular basis, statuses are to be fully updated at all times.


Competencies

Essential:

  • Knowledge of relevant Labour Legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, stress etc)
  • Ability to arrange skills assessment centres (in tray activities, work samples, psychometric and IQ/EQ tests, etc) when required and to distinguish between appropriate assessment tools
  • Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
  • Hands-on experience with recruiting software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) or Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS)
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to take instruction and ensure delivery according to expectation, follow up on execution
  • End-user knowledge of PNET, Careers24, LinkedIn and other social media tools for recruitment purposes


Advantageous:

  • Basic understanding of payroll principles
  • Basic understanding of financial principles in order to assist with generating of offers of employment and putting together remuneration packages with the hiring manager
